To add some extra pizazz (what a great word) to your next happy mail, how about making your own envelope? It is super easy so don’t be intimidated. All you need is an old envelope (the same size as the envelope you want to create), a pencil, scissors, glue, and some fun paper.
Step 1: Carefully open the envelope at its seams (trying not to rip it). This is the hardest step so once you are done with this, you are golden!
Step 2: Lay this envelope out flat on your desired paper.
Step 3: Trace the envelope with your pencil.
Step 4: Carefully cut out your new envelope
Step 5: Fold the cut envelope along each of the fold lines. You can use the original envelope as your guide of where to fold.
Step 6: Glue the edges together and voila, you have created your own envelope!
- If your envelope is patterned, I like to either use a white mailing label or glue a piece of solid color paper on the front for the address block. It is important to ensure that the address is legible for delivery purposes.
- Once you have inserted your letter or card into the envelope, you will need to glue or tape the top flap of the envelope down since it will not have the sticky edge like other envelopes.
